Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
CV Builder ("the App") helps you create, edit, preview, and export a curriculum vitae (CV) on your Android device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how that information is used, and what choices you have.
CV Builder is designed to keep your CV content on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate a backend service that stores your CV data.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you enter in the App
When you use CV Builder, you may enter personal and professional information for your CV, including:
- Name, job title, and location
- Phone number, email address, and LinkedIn profile details
- Professional summary, skills, work experience, and education
- An optional profile photo selected from your device gallery
- Template, spacing, and appearance preferences related to your CV
This information is stored locally on your device so your draft can be saved automatically while you work.
2.2 App preferences
The App may store the following preferences locally on your device:
- Selected language
- Light or dark theme preference
- Your in-progress CV draft and selected template
2.3 City search queries
If you use the location autocomplete feature, the App sends your typed search text to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to retrieve city and country suggestions. Only the search text needed to perform that lookup is transmitted.
2.4 Advertising-related information
Before exporting a CV as a PDF, the App may show a rewarded advertisement served by Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect device and advertising-related information, such as advertising identifiers, device type, operating system version, IP address, and ad interaction data, in accordance with Google's policies.
2.5 Information we do not collect
We do not collect:
- User account credentials (the App has no login system)
- Your CV content on our own servers
- Contacts, SMS messages, call logs, or precise GPS location
3. How We Use Information
We use information processed by the App to:
- Display and edit your CV inside the App
- Save your draft automatically on your device
- Generate a PDF file locally on your device
- Let you share the exported PDF through your device's share sheet
- Remember your language and theme preferences
- Provide city and country suggestions while you type a location
- Show rewarded ads before PDF export and measure ad delivery
We do not sell your CV content. We do not use your CV content for advertising profiling beyond what is required to display third-party ads through AdMob.
4. Data Storage and Retention
Your CV draft, profile photo reference, language setting, and theme preference are stored locally on your device using the App's on-device storage (AsyncStorage).
Exported PDF files are written to the App's cache directory on your device and may be shared by you through Android's standard sharing features.
Data remains on your device until you clear it by deleting the App, clearing the App's storage in Android settings, or using any in-app clear/reset action if available. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App data from your device.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
5.1 Google AdMob
The App uses Google AdMob to display rewarded advertisements before PDF export. Google may collect and process data as described in the Google Privacy Policy and AdMob & Ads policy information.
You can limit ad personalization on Android through your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads.
5.2 OpenStreetMap Nominatim
City autocomplete uses the OpenStreetMap Nominatim search service. Search queries are sent
to nominatim.openstreetmap.org. Use of that service is subject to the
Nominatim Usage Policy
and
OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
5.3 Android system sharing
When you share an exported PDF, the file is passed to apps you choose through Android's share sheet. Those apps handle data under their own privacy policies.
6. App Permissions
Depending on your use of the App, Android may request access to:
- Photos and media / gallery: used only when you choose to add or change a profile photo from your device.
- Internet access: used for city search suggestions and to load and measure advertisements.
- Network state: used to determine connectivity before network requests.
The App requests photo access only in connection with profile photo selection. You can deny permission and still use most App features without a profile photo.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Choose what information to include in your CV
- Decline photo permission if you do not want to add a profile picture
- Clear App data or uninstall the App to remove locally stored information
- Manage ad personalization in your Android Google Ads settings
- Choose whether and with whom to share exported PDF files
Depending on your country or region, you may have additional privacy rights, such as the right to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because CV content is stored on your device, you can delete it directly by clearing App storage or uninstalling the App.
9. Children's Privacy
CV Builder is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will help you remove locally stored App data by uninstalling the App or clearing its storage.
10. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information processed by the App, including storing CV drafts locally on your device rather than on our servers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and you are responsible for protecting access to your device and any files you export or share.
11. International Users
If you use the App outside your home country, your information may be processed by third-party services such as Google and OpenStreetMap on servers located in other countries. Those providers may process data under their own privacy and legal frameworks.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
